Meet Kees van de Laar, who joined ChainCraft at the beginning of 2023 as an Interim Controller. Looking back on that period, Kees shares: “During those two years, we managed to really professionalize the Finance function, while at the same time ChainCraft was going through an exciting phase of growth.”

As the company grew, a new opportunity emerged within the Finance team – a role that perfectly matched his career ambitions and vision for further development. The choice between continuing interim work or applying for a permanent role at ChainCraft became an easy one: “Only one of those options made me happy, so the decision was actually a no-brainer.” Since June 2025, Kees has officially been a permanent member of our team.

In his current role, Kees makes sure the financial side of our story is solid and helps us grow. This means ensuring accurate and timely numbers for colleagues, investors, and subsidies, improving processes and reporting, keeping a close eye on the financials of our new factory, contributing to fundraising and supporting key decision-making.

What he enjoys most about working here? “First and foremost, it’s the passionate and ‘gezellige’ colleagues at ChainCraft. On top of that, I get a huge amount of energy from being part of a team that’s actively building a more sustainable world.”

A fun memory? Let’s just say office life at the Port of Amsterdam comes with surprises: a rat once chewed through the ethernet cable, leaving the entire office without Wi-Fi for hours. Lesson learned: rats make lousy pets.
