Meet Melvin Smit, who first joined ChainCraft as an intern in 2020 and returned two years later in 2022 to become a key part of our operations team.

Today, Melvin works as a Process Operator in our factory, monitoring the plant’s performance together with his colleagues to ensure it keeps running smoothly. Since the end of 2024, he has also taken on the role of first point of contact within operations, bridging communication between the operators and the engineers, and making sure that daily and special tasks are executed.
“Within operations, you never know what you’ll run into. That’s what keeps it interesting. And because we’re still operating a demo plant, we often get to try new or different things. It makes every day a new challenge. Plus, the team I work with is great!”

One of the developments Melvin is proud of?
“At the end of 2024, I stepped into the role of first point of contact for operations. I even got to follow a three-day course to further develop the skills needed for this role.”

And a special memory?
“There have been many great moments, but one stands out. Once, we had to prepare a lot of Big Bags with powder for our customers, which meant coming in on weekends. At one point, Niels came to help, and it ended up being just the two of us walking around the plant together on a weekend. That really resonated with me.”
